Lot sizes

Find your yard, get your price by text

Pick the column that matches your lot. Each visit is mow, trim, edge and blow off the walks and driveway, priced by lot size. Most Tulsa city lots land in Small or Medium.

  • Small

Under 5,000 sq ft. A short front yard and a strip out back.

    • Weekly mow
    • Every other week
    • First cut of a tall yard
    Term:
    Priced per visit
  • Medium

5,000 to 9,000 sq ft. A typical city lot with a side yard.

    • Weekly mow
    • Every other week
    • First cut of a tall yard
    Term:
    Priced per visit
  • Large

9,000 to 15,000 sq ft. A corner lot or a deep back yard.

    • Weekly mow
    • Every other week
    • First cut of a tall yard
    Term:
    Priced per visit
  • Big lot

15,000 sq ft up to an acre. Past a half acre, I text you the price.

    • Weekly mow
    • Every other week
    • First cut of a tall yard
    Term:
    Priced per visit

Bagging, hauling, steep slopes, a locked gate or tall grass can change the price, and I text you the number before I mow.

Meet Tuft

Look for the grin

Tuft is a blade of grass in sunglasses. He rides on the truck, the invoice and the yard sign, so you know who is in your yard.

  • On the truck door

Both doors, so a neighbor can tell that the mower in front of your house is mine.

  • On every invoice

Tuft sits at the top, with the date, your lot size and the price on one line.

  • On a yard sign

If you want one, I stake a small Tuft sign by the walk on mow day. Say no and he stays on the truck.

How to book

Text a photo of your yard

Snap the front and the back, text both to (918) 555-0100 with your street address, and I text back a price for your lot size and the next open day on my route.

What helps in the photo

  • The whole front yard and the whole back yard

  • The gate, if there is one

  • Fence lines, beds and slopes that need a trim

The mowing year

Bermuda and fescue keep different clocks

Tulsa lawns run on two grasses, so the route and the blade height change with the season.

  • March and April: first cuts

Fescue wakes first. Bermuda follows once the soil warms. The first mows are short and mostly clean up the winter.

  • May and June: weekly

Spring rain and fast growth. Weekly cuts keep each mow to a third of the blade or less.

  • July and August: heat

Fescue struggles and bermuda takes off. I raise the deck on fescue and mow early, before the pavement bakes.

  • September and October: leaves

Mowing slows and leaves start. I blow them off the lawn and keep cutting so new fescue seed, if you put some down, gets light.

  • November: last cuts

The last cuts come after the first hard frost, with a final leaf blow-off. Then the route rests.

  • December to February: off

No mowing, no invoices. Text a photo when you spot green and I put you on the spring list.

From the route

What the first few Tuesdays were like

“I closed on the house in April with no mower. Lamar priced it off two photos and was here the next Tuesday. The edges along the walk are sharp.”

Garrett C.New homeowner, Brookside

“I skipped a week for a trip by sending one text. The invoice had my lot size on it, so I knew exactly what I was paying for.”

Ana R.Homeowner, Broken Arrow

“My lot sits between Medium and Large. He measured it once with a wheel and told me which column I was in. Same price ever since.”

Questions

Before you text

How much does mowing cost?

It depends on the size of your lot, how often I come and what's in the way. Each lot size above has its own price for one visit. Slopes, gates, tall grass and bagging change the number, and I text it to you before I mow.

How soon can you start, and how long does a mow take?

After you text, I send a price and the next open day on my route. A small yard takes under half an hour. A half-acre takes a good part of the morning.

Are you licensed and insured?

Tuft is registered as a business in Oklahoma, and the line at the bottom of every page shows it. Mowing doesn't have a trade license of its own in the state. Ask me for my insurance certificate and I'll send it before the first mow.

What happens at the estimate?

Most yards I price from your photos. If a yard is odd, I stop by, measure the lot and text you the price. Either way you have the price in writing, as a text, before the first cut.

How do I pay?

Cash, card, Cash App or Venmo. An invoice with Tuft at the top comes by text or email after each mow, or once a month if you'd rather.

What if it rains or freezes?

A soaked lawn tears and clumps, so on a wet day I move your mow to the next dry one and text you. In winter the route rests when the grass does, usually from late November to March.

What should I do before you come?

Pick up toys, hoses and dog waste, and leave the gate unlatched or text me the code. You don't need to be home.

Do you do weed spray, fertilizer or overseeding?

No. Spraying takes a state applicator license, and I mow. If your lawn needs more than a mower, say so in your text and I'll tell you what I see.

Where do you mow?

Tulsa and the towns around it, listed in the service area above. If you aren't sure, text your address.
